A long-running troop with deep Auburn roots

Troop 401 is one of the longest-running Scout troops in the Chief Seattle Council and in Washington. The troop has served the Auburn community since 1923 in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Auburn.

The legacy site describes a year-round program built around campouts, hikes, work parties, fundraisers, special tours, and regular troop activities led by youth with adult mentorship.

What began as Troop 1 under Scoutmaster Harlan R. Stone continues as a troop shaped by service, leadership, and outdoor experience.

Founded in Auburn

The troop began as Troop 1 of Auburn under Scoutmaster Harlan R. Stone.

1926

Kiwanis sponsorship begins

Renumbered as Troop 401

District renumbering moved the troop from Auburn Troop 1 to the 401 designation.
